Tickets are on sale for the fifth-annual Shaggin’ for a Cause scheduled for March 17 at the Washington Civic Center.

Jim Quick & Coastline will be the featured entertainment for this St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser for the Shepard Cancer Foundation, which financially supports and promotes the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center.

Shaggin’ for a Cause began in 2007 when cancer-center nurses recognized that patients and their families were struggling financially because of their diagnoses. The goal was to establish a patient-assistance fund to assist patients whose treatments were in jeopardy. Generous contributions over the years have enabled the foundation to incorporate complementary therapy programs that help reduce stress and tension, provide an outlet to express personal struggles with cancer, teach coping strategies and educate people about cancer diagnosis and prevention.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person and may be purchased at the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center or Vidant Wellness Center (formerly Lifestyles Medical Fitness Center).

There will be a cash bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres and silent and live auctions.
