Alverita Jones

Mrs. Alverita “Arbut” Jones, 80, a resident of 200 Palmetto St., Creswell, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy, Charlotte.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Tyrone Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was born July 19, 1931, in Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Willie Augustus Riddick and Mildred Spencer Riddick. She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church serving as a deaconess. Her husband, Albert M. Jones, preceded her in death.

Survivors include five sons, Albert Jones Jr. of Landover, Md., Willie Joseph Jones of Louisa Va., Perry Jones of Norfolk, Va., Frederick Jones and Neil Jones, both of Charlotte; three daughters, Allison Young, Lana Jones and Michelle Hudson, all of Charlotte; a sister, Marjorie Cabarrus of Creswell, 29 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at St. John Missionary Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Arrangements are by Toodle’s Funeral Home, Plymouth.
