Beulah Ann Sawyer Young

Mrs. Beulah Ann Sawyer Young, 75, a resident of both Alexandria, Va., and Washington, N.C., passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Washington’s Vidant Beaufort Hospital. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by the Rev. Glen Brock. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington.

Beulah Ann Sawyer Young

Mrs. Young was born June 16, 1936, in Kinston, daughter of the late T. Herman Sawyer and Beulah Cauley Sawyer. She grew up in Washington, N.C., and then moved to Washington, D.C. Beulah married Russell H. Young on Sept. 5, 1959. She worked at the C&P Telephone Company and United Virginia Bank and Crestar Bank. She was a member of Belleview Baptist Church in Alexandria.

Beulah is survived by her husband of 52 years, Russell H. Young Sr., her son Russell H. Young Jr. of Baltimore, Md., her daughter Cynthia Young of Richmond, Va., and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends who have shown their love and support.

Memorials in Beulah’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
