Archie Lee Gibbs, 81, a resident of Swan Quarter, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Born in the Lake Landing township of Hyde County on July 12, 1931, he was the son of Mary Florence O’Neal Gibbs and the late Frank Gibbs. He worked for many years with Mayo Building Contractors prior to his retirement.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Phil Emmert will officiate.

Surviving are his sister, Mary Louise G. Rivas of Alto, N.M., and a brother, Joseph Allen Gibbs of Virginia and leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Eugene Gibbs, Elbert Lewis Gibbs and Bobbie Dean Gibbs.

Friends visited with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Bryan Funeral Service.
