Alton Ray Lane Jr.

Alton Ray Lane Jr., 53, a resident of Alliance, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at home.

Alton was born in New Bern to Alton Ray and Linda Lane. He was a native of Stonewall, and a 1976 graduate of Pamlico County High School. After being employed by PCS in Aurora for 28 years, he continued his education at Craven Community College, earning certification as a Pharmacist Assistant. He was working toward a degree in the medical field at Pamlico Community College. He was a member of Stonewall Methodist Church.

Alton was preceded in death by his father, Alton Ray Lane Sr. and a brother, Timothy Kurt Lane.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Taylor Lane of Stonewall; one brother, Stephen Lane Sr. and wife Lucynda of Grantsboro; two sisters, Janet Setzer and husband Terry of Dawson’s Creek, and Lori Streblow and husband Bill of New Bern; grandmother, Lena W. Taylor of New Bern; four nephews, Brandon Streblow, Jordan Streblow, Stephen Lane Jr. and Joshua Lane; one aunt, Ruth Kellum and husband Norman of New Bern; his fiancee’, Elizabeth Powers of the home; and extended family, Miranda Pipkin, Jody Henries, Angel Pipkin and Brylei Simpson, all of Stonewall.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Register officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Greenleaf Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home and other times at his residence in Alliance (303 Forest Park Circle) and his mother’s residence in Stonewall.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Pamlico, P.O. Box 959, Bayboro, NC  28515 or Twin Rivers Lions Club, 2001 Williamson Drive, New Bern, NC  28562.
