The Blue Knights North Carolina Chapter VIII and the Rocky Mount chapter of the Blue Knights will host a fundraising motorcycle ride April 21 to honor fallen law-enforcement officers.
This year’s ride will specifically honor Warren Basco “Sneak” Lewis, who was fatally shot while serving an arrest warrant June 9, 2011. Lewis was an investigator with the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.
Riders will meet at 9 a.m. at Ron Ayers Motor Sports, 1929 N. Memorial Drive, Greenville. Blue Knights VIII will provide a pancake-and-sausage breakfast during registration. A fee of $20 per motorcycle is requested. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 riders. The event also includes raffles.
A police escort will lead the ride to the Nash County Courthouse. After the riders arrive there, a memorial service will be conducted. The service will be followed by a pig pickin’ provided by the Blue Knights’ Rocky Mount chapter.
A portion of the money raised by the ride will be donated to a charity or provide a scholarship in memory of the officer.
