In golf and in business, it only matters if you call the shot before you hit the ball. Criticizing a business decision five years and a recession later is neither helpful nor prudent. Taking a chance in the present is what takes courage and skill.
Well, I see our notorious City Council has fell for it again. Count the months between now and November election time in this program giving $25,000 (for each job created) to small businesses. It just so happens that it’s seven months. Six months is just before the election. There goes the employment rate up just in time for the election. How shrewd.
I just wanted to say hooray for Warren Smith. If people want to get somebody off the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners, it needs to be Stan Deatherage. He ain’t worth a hoot.

It was nice to read, finally, on the Thursday opinion page, that Gene Lyons has finally thrown his hat in the Fox News network ring.
