Local project requests more volunteers

A group of volunteers in Washington is striving to make a difference in the community — and is asking for additional help. The volunteer project will take place on Join Hands Day, Saturday, May 5, a national day of service sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America and other fraternal benefit societies.

Volunteers in Washington will plant flowers and small shrubbery along the walkways and in gazebo areas. The project will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Retirement Assisted Living Center, 300 Minuteman Lane, Washington.

Join Hands Day is the only national day of service designed to bring youth and adults together to plan and implement volunteer service projects in their communities. As the generations work side by side, they learn more about each other, sparking a new level of understanding and respect.
