Walter “Jay” Allen

Mr. Walter Jayhugh “Jay” Allen, 83, a resident of 4660 N.C. Highway 99 North, Pantego, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and will be conducted by Maurice Manning. Graveside services for Mr. Allen and his son Mark will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Davis Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 14, 1928, to the late Lonnie Credle and Lillie Chesson Allen. He was a member of the Pike Road Church of Christ and was a farmer all of his life.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Phrocene Allen; two sons, Walter Jay Allen and wife Lisa of Lake Wales, Fla., and Jeffrey L. Allen of Pantego; one daughter, Janet M. Allen of Bath; one daughter-in-law, Chris Gallo of Mesa, Ariz.; three granddaughters, Summer Allen McCann and husband David of Lakeland, Fla., Jana Allen Trent of Florida, Mariah Day Mordecai of Bath; three great-grandsons, Jaryn, Caden and Chase McCann of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Shirley Chesson and Nell Harris and two brothers, Paul Allen and Lonnie C. Allen. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Allen of Mesa, Ariz., and three sisters, Carol Gomez, Elva Voliva and Myrtle McLean.

The family will receive friends at the home.
