A report of a careless and reckless driver led to an assault charge for one Beaufort County man.
According to a press release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Blythe Hilton Noe III, 41, of South Wedgewood Drive, Washington, was arrested on April 21 for threatening, then assaulting a Sheriff’s Office deputy. Noe was intoxicated at the time.
Deputy Zach Martin had responded to the call and was patrolling the Country Club Estates area when a Noe approached the patrol car and began yelling and cursing. Martin called for back-up as the man grabbed the patrol car and shook it violently. Noe to comply with the officer’s commands and threatened to kill Deputy Martin.
As the deputy waited for other officers to arrive, Noe disappeared into the woods off Wedgwood Drive where deputies and troopers from the N.C. State High Patrol tracked him down and took him into custody after a brief struggle.
As deputies tried to get Noe in the patrol car, he spit and kicked at deputies, continuing to resist.
Noe was charged with malicious conduct, assault on a government official, resist, delay, obstruct an officer, communicating threats, disorderly conduct, and intoxicated and disruptive.
The Sheriff’s Office is not aware of any past charges for similar behavior by Noe, said Major Kenneth Watson of the Sheriff’s Office.
