Vidant Beaufort Hospital to offer free health fair

The public is invited to attend a free health fair sponsored by Vidant Beaufort Hospital from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday outside of the Washington Wal-Mart in recognition of National Hospital Week.

The health fair will offer free screenings for body mass index, blood pressure and blood sugar. These screenings are used as indicators for two of the most prevalent health concerns identified by Beaufort County citizens in the most recent community health needs assessment — chronic disease and weight management/obesity. Vidant Beaufort Hospital is dedicated to helping residents remain healthy and detect illnesses early.

The health fair will be set up outside of Wal-Mart beginning at 9 a.m. A variety of booths will be set up under tents with giveaway items and door prizes. All services are free of charge. Participants can register to win a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart, a three-month membership to Vidant Wellness Center Washington and a home fitness kit.

North Carolina hospitals reach out to their communities in numerous ways to help residents remain healthy and detect illnesses early while treatment can be effective and less costly. During National Hospital Week, May 6-12, many hospitals around the state will be hosting community health fairs to remind everyone about the important work hospitals do in their communities, the hospitals’ vital role in health, and the constancy of hospital services.
