May 5, Washington police arrested 19-year-old Christopher Clevon Freeman, of Van Norden Street in Washington, for underage consumption of alcohol. Officers also found Freeman was carrying a concealed weapon at the time, a weapon that had been registered as stolen, resulting in further charges: carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen firearm.
“It was a county case,” said Lt. William Chrismon of the Washington Police Department, said of the stolen gun. “They had entered it in the computer as a stolen firearm.”
Stolen weapons are submitted into the National Crime Information Center, where they are listed until the weapon is found.
According to Chrismon, Freeman has a prior record, including drug charges.
“I know he had enough to be charged with possession of a firearm by a felon,” he said.
Freeman was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
