Gilbert Tucker Stevens, 85, a resident of 218 Magnolia Drive, Washington, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at his home.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Stevens was born in New Haven, Conn., on March 25, 1927, to the late Gilbert Tucker Stevens and Helen Baranski Stevens. He graduated from high school and furthered his education by receiving a degree from Quinnipiac University with a degree in accounting. He was a member of Delta Mu Delta, which is an honor society in Business Administration. On June 5, 1948, Mr. Stevens married the former Agnes Nichols, who survives. Mr. Stevens served his country in the United States Marines. He was retired from Hamilton Beach, where he had worked for 17 years. As a CPA, Mr. Stevens was very active in the Eastern Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Accountants, having served as president, and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Stevens was an avid golfer and was a member of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, Agnes, of the home, Mr. Stevens is survived by a daughter, Maureen Stevens Pollack and husband Peter of Larchmont, N.Y.; a brother; Eugene Stevens of Farmingdale, N.Y., and a granddaughter, Yvette Pollack of Larchmont, N.Y.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stevens is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Stevens and a sister, Helen Oehrlein.
