Irene Hodges Gladson

Irene Hodges Gladson, a resident of Chesapeake, Va., passed away peacefully on May 27, 2012, surrounded by her family after a long illness in her 90th year.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Irene, a native of Beaufort County, had made her home in the Tidewater area of Virginia for more than 50 years. She retired from London Fog and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thad and Pearlie Hodges of Chocowinity, as well as two brothers, Harry and Joe Hodges, and two sisters, Marjorie Arnold and Elizabeth Robinson.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Thomas Ervin Gladson; son, Tommy Gladson and wife Raelea of Portsmouth, Va.; daughter, Brenda Sivils and husband Buddy of Portsmouth, Va.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Mottley and husband Ryan of Chesapeake, Va., Amy Hetzler and husband Clark of Virginia Beach, Va., and Allan Sivils of Chesapeake, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Spencer and Morgan Mottley, Mayleigh Hetzler, Trent and Kate Sivils.; and a sister, Eleanor Bell of Chocowinity.
The family will receive friends to celebrate her life from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville.
The family expresses its deepest appreciation to Dr. Kevin Wilson and Sentara Home Care & Hospice Services for all help and kindness as her health declined.
