Carlton Jay Haddock, 59, a resident of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 28, 2012.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Haddock family cemetery with the Rev. Marc Swanner officiating.
Carlton was a native of Pitt County where he attended the Chicod School. For the past 20 years, he had made Washington his home. He owned and operated The Sunset Lounge in Chocowinity and was previously employed with Hackney Industries in Washington.
A quiet person by nature, Carlton was loved by many. His easy-going personality enabled him to never meet a stranger and Carlton greatly enjoyed helping others. A loving son, brother, and friend, he will be fondly remembered by many as the “Little Leprechaun” and will be greatly missed by his many friends, family and extended family from The Sunset Lounge.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Ruby Burroughs Haddock, and two brothers.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda Haddock Swanner and husband A.G. of Washington and Betty H. Kite of Greenville; fiancé Kristi Edwards of Washington, a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville.
