Helen L. Stokes

Mrs. Helen L. Stokes, a resident of Chocowinity, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

Mrs. Stokes was born in Alliance, Ohio, daughter of the late William Louis Bissler and the late Hazel E. Skiles Bissler. She married David G. Stokes, who preceded her in death on March 4, 1976. Mrs. Stokes was a retired inspector with Hoover Co. She was a 26-year breast-cancer survivor who loved to read, travel and being at home with family. Mrs. Stokes was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canton, Ohio, and a funeral Mass will be conducted at a later date.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Stokes Baran and husband James of Chocowinity. She is predeceased by a brother, William Bissler.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
