A Russian “bear will be dining in Washin”gton Wednesday evening.

Wrestling hall-of-famer Ivan “the Russian Bear” Koloff will sign autographs at the Mayflower Seafood Restaurant of Washington Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

He will be accepting donations for his autograph with proceeds to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

Koloff wrestled as the Russian Bear for 31 years. His titles include WWA World heavyweight champion, Mid-Atlantic heavyweight champion and WWF world heavyweight champion. He held the NWA World tag-team champion title four times in his career, twice with his brother, Nikita Koloff.

Koloff is now an ordained minister who, as a part of his Bear Witness for Christ Ministries, travels around the country offering his testimony. He lives in Greenville with his wife, Renae.

Danny Watson, managing partner of the local Mayflower Seafood Restaurant, got to know Koloff when he worked at the Winterville Mayflower.

“He is a great guy. He does a lot of work with charities,” Watson said. “This will be his first appearance here (at the Mayflower).”
