Mary Elizabeth Haddock Clark, 76, a resident of River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Washington passed away with family by her side on Sunday, June 17, 2012.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. Pastor Jerry Waters will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Nephews and great-nephews Wendell Carawan, Ottis Clark, Douglas Clark, J.D. Clark, Eugene Clark and Trent Carawan will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Clark was born in Pitt County on June 10, 1936, daughter of the late Leon C. Haddock Sr. and the late Miriam Elizabeth Stocks Haddock. She attended Washington High School and married Snodie M. Clark on Jan. 2, 1954, who preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1984. Mrs. Clark was owner and operator of the Knotty Pine Inn of Washington and later worked as a sales associate with Belks of Washington and retired in 2005. She was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Washington Moose Lodge #1800 and Choctaw Council #51 Degree of Pocahontas, where she served as past Great Pocahontas.
Mrs. Clark is survived by a daughter, Linda Clark Hedgepeth and her husband Robert E. Hedgepeth Jr. of Washington; two sisters, Helen Daniel of Washington and Ellen Watkins of Yukon, Okla.; three brothers, James Haddock of Charlotte, Leon Haddock Jr. of Webster, Fla., and Roland Haddock of Washington; two grandchildren, Paige Hedgepeth Stocks and her husband Billy and Bradford Clark Hedgepeth, and three great-grandchildren, Haley Lynne Hedgepeth, Emeline Elizabeth Stocks and William Gardner “Will” Stocks III.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of her daughter Linda Hedgepeth, 202 Blue Gill Drive, Washington.
