John Patrick “J.P.” O’Neal

John Patrick “J.P.” O’Neal, 72, of 6965 Turnpike Road, of the Rose Bay community, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Vidant Pungo Hospital, Belhaven.
Born in Hyde County April 6, 1940, he was the son of the late John P. and Aleen Patrick O’Neal. He was married to the former Margaret Ann Mason who survives.
He was a member of the Scranton Christian Church, the Atlantic Lodge #294 A.F. & A.M., Swan Quarter and the Rose Bay Hunting Club. An avid hunter, J.P. loved people and life.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at the family plot at Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery. Linwood Adams will officiate.
In addition to his wife surviving are a son Brian O’Neal and wife Jennifer of Rose Bay; a daughter Teresa Tuck of Rose Bay; a brother Roy O’Neal of Belhaven and a sister Kay Deckard-Tuten of Rose Bay; five grandchildren Austin, Ainsleigh, Andrew, Chelsea and Patrick.
The family will receive friends Monday evening at the home place on 6965 Turnpike Road.
