Danny Reed has earned another state title.
Reed, a mechanic II with the Beaufort County Schools bus garage, was named the best bus inspector in the state during the recent North Carolina Pupil Transportation association’s annual conference and competition held at First Flight High School in Manteo.
Reed, who has been with Beaufort County Schools since 2000, came out on top after completing a written test and a hands-on inspection. His repeat win comes off the heels of state-level wins in 2007, 2010 and 2011. The veteran inspector took first place at his first national competition in 2007 and had top-five finishes in 2010 and 2011.
“We are thrilled for Danny,” said Don Phipps, superintendent of Beaufort County Schools. “It is incredible to know the best in the state helps keep our school buses running and our children safe. He is a fine illustration of the talented mechanics in our transportation department.”
Reed will once again participate in the national competition, which is scheduled for this fall in nearby Rocky Mount.
