Benjamin Larry Knox Sr., 83, of 324 Hickory Fork Road, Edenton, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Knox was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Ben Louis and Annie Sue Shaw Knox. Retired as Superintendent of Postal Operations at the Edenton Post Office, he was a member of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church and had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Castelloe and Frances Garner; brothers, Vernon, William (Buster), and Charles Knox; and by two grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Annie Woolard Knox; three daughters, Crystal Sue Mazzoli and husband Andrew of Saluda, S.C., Patricia Sibley and husband Scott of Eagan, Minn., and Amy O’Neal and husband Roy of Edenton; two sons, Benjamin Larry Knox Jr. and wife Lisa of Washington, and Jeffrey Knox and wife Rae of Edenton; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Danny Gurganus. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
