Mrs. Carol Ann Kells Keim, 70, a resident of Cypress Landing in Chocowinity, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Washington, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Schmidt.
Mrs. Keim was born in Latrobe, Pa., on April 6, 1942, daughter of the late Andrew “Mack” Kells and Eleanor Mikesell Kells. She was a 1960 graduate of Latrobe High School and was trained as a licensed practical nurse at Westmoreland County Hospital in Greensburg, Pa. Mrs. Keim worked in nursing for 14 years. On Aug. 4, 1962, the former Carol Kells married Ralph W. “Skip” Keim. During her husband’s service in the U.S. Air Force, the Keims enjoyed living in many communities across the country including Sacramento, Calif., Rome, N.Y., Cheyenne, Wyo., Durham, N.H., Omaha, Neb., and Fairfax, Va., before moving to North Carolina in 2002. She was an avid golfer and was a past president of the Women’s Golf Association at Cypress Landing. Mrs. Keim attended Grace Lutheran Church of Washington.
In addition to her husband Skip, Mrs. Keim is survived by her children, Gary W. Keim of San Francisco, Calif., Diane L. McCrary and husband Thomas of Ashburn, Va., Michael S. Keim and wife Kelly of Leesburg, Va., and Ben A. Keim and wife Tracy of Downingtown, Pa.; a sister, Kathy Bangor and husband Jack of Youngstown, Pa., and seven grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keim is preceded in death by a brother, James Kells.
