From Aug. 1 through Aug. 17, the Beaufort County Boys & Girls Club sites in Washington and Belhaven will conduct their annual Academic Booster Camp.
The camp will run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All attendees will be provided free breakfasts and lunches through a summer feeding program.
Registration is under way, with applications available at the Washington and Belhaven sites to all children ages 6 through 17. Prices for the camp are $35 per child if registering one child or two children, $75 if registering three children from one household, $85 if registering four children from a household and $100 if registering five or more children from one household. Scholarships are available from the Washington Housing Authority for its residents. For information about those scholarships, contact any of the authority’s offices.
The theme of this year’s Academic Booster Camp is Let Your Light Shine, which puts an emphasis on letting each child emphasize his or her talents and interests in a variety of different subject choices. The camp will stress interactive lessons, with an importance on hands-on learning for the campers.
Aug. 6-10, the Boys and Girls Club will host the Mop Top Shop, which features Mop Top, the Hip-Hop Scientist. The Mop Top program specializes in camps in math, science and technology.
