Eagle’s Wings
News Release
The fifth-annual Dancing With OUR Stars fundraiser to benefit Eagle’s Wings is set for Aug. 11 at the Washington High School Performing Arts Center.
Two performances, one at 4 p.m. and one at 8 p.m., are slated.
The dance teams are refining their routines and sponsors and advertisers are lining up to help sustain Eagle’s Wings, a Washington-based food pantry for the poor.
Teams from businesses, schools and nonprofit organizations learn dances, sell tickets and solicit contributions. The top three teams that raise the most money will win trophies, and the nonprofits share the money they raise with Eagle’s Wings. A People’s Choice Award, based on applause, will be presented to a team in each of the shows.
Choreographed by Janet Cox and her team of dancers, all music for the event comes from the soundtracks of Broadway and Hollywood shows and movies. Dance teams have been assembled by Washington Therapy, Literacy Volunteers of Beaufort County, Ruth’s House, Washington High School Dancers, Mid-East Commission/Washington Parks and Recreation Department, Chocowinity Primary School, Washington Montessori Public Charter School, Carolina Girls, WITN, Le Moulin Rouge De Danse Cuties, Riley and Raven Simpson, Beaufort County Community College, Eagle’s Wings and Men ’n a Chord. Russell Smith will serve as master of ceremonies.
Tickets will be sold at Music in the Streets tonight and Backwater Jack’s today and Saturday.
Tickets are available at the Beaufort County Arts Council, Artisan’s Market, River Walk Gallery, Amy’s Hallmark, Le Moulin Rouge De Danse and Eagle’s Wings. Ticket prices for the 4 p.m. show are (general admission) $10 a person or (VIP) $20 a person. Ticket prices for the 8 p.m. show are (general admission) $10 a person or (VIP) $40 a person. For more information, call 252-975-1138
