Ms. Doris Grey Williams McDaniel, 81, of Sylacauga, AL, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Sylacauga Health & Rehab.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Michael Trull. Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Shannon Dobbs, Gary Dobbs, Jr., Paul McDaniel, Christi Penrod, Andy Mifflin, Diana Bostick and Lindsey Bostick. Visitation was held Thursday, July 19, from 6-8 p.m. at the Childersburg Chapel.
Ms. McDaniel was a former member of First Baptist Church of Childersburg, and was a member of Highland Baptist of Florence where she sang in the choir and was director of the preschool department. She was an avid gardener and artist, but her true passion was her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas McDaniel, and brother, Bud Williams.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip McDaniel (Vicky) of Sylacauga and Steve McDaniel of Fayetteville; a daughter, Pam Bostick (John) of Red Bay; seven grandchildren, Dr. Shannon Dobbs of Tupelo, MS, Gary Dobbs, Jr. (Melanie) of Oxford, MS, Paul McDaniel (Ginger) of Birmingham; Christi Penrod (John) of Sylacauga, Andy Mifflin (Jennifer) of Leighton, Diana Bostick of Birmingham and Lindsey Bostick of Birmingham, and four great-grandchildren, Zac and Zane Penrod, and Riley and Taylor Mifflin.
