RALEIGH (AP) — Court appearances are being postponed for a pair of North Carolina men charged with stabbing to death a Good Samaritan who turned around his car to help out at a traffic accident.

The emotionally charged court hearing Monday ended with shouts and tears as they faced one of the suspects. Friends and family of Eleazer Herrera were ordered to leave the Wake County courtroom.

More than two dozen people crammed into the courtroom wearing matching T-shirts and chanting.

The 20-year-old Herrera was killed in January when he stopped to help out after he saw a crashed vehicle at the intersection of New Hope Road and Wallingford Drive. Police say the vehicle was stolen and the suspects crashed as they were fleeing the scene of a robbery.

The case has been continued to August 20.
