Second man arrested in counterfeit case

Washington police arrested a second man in relation to the influx of counterfeit currency in Beaufort County recently. Guy Wayne Sprouse, 22, a resident of 15th Street, Washington, was arrested yesterday, charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, in that he used counterfeit currency to purchase items, according to officials.

Last week Brandon Mizell was arrested was arrested and charged with the same, as well as being in possession of five counterfeit bills.

A press release from the Washington Police Department stated that additional charges may occur for both of these cases.

Sprouse was released on a $12,000 bond.
