Tiny art, a new exhibit opening, a photography show, and even a beach party are all part of the happenings that will take place during downtown Washington’s summer ArtWalk. The event is set for Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. All galleries and studios featured during ArtWalk will be holding special events and offering refreshments for all visitors.
Art Tyndall Studio on Water Street is a comfortable studio and the perfect place to view Tyndall’s rotating collection of work where there’s always something new to see:  original paintings in oil, acrylic and plein air.
The Beaufort County Arts Council’s Lane Gift Shop & Gallery features a vast array of work by local artists. Just arrived is new ceramic work by former Belhaven resident Jake Van Wyk. The newly opened fifth annual juried photography exhibit will also be available to visitors during ArtWalk.
The Inner Banks Artisans’ Center is planning an ArtWalk Beach Party that will take place in the center as well as outdoors on the sidewalk and adjacent Union Alley.  Activities will include a kids’ sidewalk chalk art event, discounts on art work displayed on outdoor tables and chances to meet and greet many working artists in their studios. The beach party will also supply picnic snacks, beverages and live music in the coffeehouse by the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association.
Lone Leaf Gallery and Custom Framing will be celebrating their third anniversary during ArtWalk with the opening of a new exhibit by artist Sarah Wiseman titled “Altered Space.” Wiseman, who currently teaches painting and drawing at Southeastern Louisiana State University, has exhibited throughout the U.S., but this will be her first exhibit in North Carolina. Lone Leaf Gallery often introduces new and exciting artists to local arts patrons.
Riverwalk Gallery & Art Center will hold the opening reception for its Tiny Art Show during ArtWalk. Work in the exhibit will features pieces no larger than 5” X 7” by 4” in size and will utilize a variety of mediums including paintings, printings, photography, mixed media, jewelry, pottery, hand made books and more.

The public is encouraged to visit local downtown merchants who will be open late in support of ArtWalk as well as one of several of the new downtown restaurants that have opened in recent weeks.
