Mr. Hubert Samuel Brown, 96, was called home after a lengthy illness to be with his Lord and Savior. He was embraced by family and friends as he lived out his last days at home with his adopted family, William and Janice Ellegor at Pantego, N.C. Hubert spent the last eight years of life with William and Janice and accepted them as his son and daughter, along with their four children, William, Odell, Alethea and Darius as well as their grandchildren were honored to consider him as a Grandfather and a great-grandfather.
Brown was born on Sept. 16, 1915, in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late Samuel Lee and Cora Tucker. Brown served his country as a member of the United States Army. He received an Honorable Discharge. In pursuit of employment he studied Culinary Arts and became a Chef at several popular restaurants in Manhattan, New York. Hubert Samuel met his soul mate, Helen Robinson and they relocated to Pantego, NC in 1978. Helen and a stepson Bruce James Smith preceded him in death.
Hubert Brown gave his life to Christ and was baptized and became a member of Bethel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ in Roper, NC. He served with the Usher Board and thoroughly enjoyed that period of his life.
He is survived by a daughter, Luwanna Brown Berringer of Omaha, Nebraska; a stepson Lincoln Smith, Newburg, NY; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
On behalf of his entire family we wish to thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes in our time of sorrow and grief. He will never be forgotten, even though he is no longer with us physically but with us spiritually until the end of time.
The Bonner Street Funeral Home is pleased to have served the Brown and Ellegor family.
