Mr. Roy Lee Crisp, Jr., age 80, a resident of 55 Jones Circle, Chocowinity, NC died Friday, August 10, 2012, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Melvin Haas. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Wes Johnson, Edward Asby, Elliott Griffin, Lee Crisp, David Porter and Billy Albritton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Hill, Billy Whichard, Arthur Edwards, Earl Rascoe, Doug Crumpler and Curtis Hardy.
Mr. Crisp was born in Beaufort County on September 9, 1931, son of the late Roy L. Crisp, Sr. and the late Jennie Gray Woolard Crisp. He attended Old Ford School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Crisp married the former Ruby Dare Padgett on December 28, 1985, who survives. He was owner/operator of C & L Equipment of Chocowinity until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Crisp was a lifetime member of Washington VFW Post 6088, Haw Branch Hunting Club and Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church. He was a wonderful husband, stepfather and papa who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Surviving along with Mr. Crisp’s wife Ruby Crisp of the home are three stepchildren: Gary Wayne Clark and his fiancée Sonya of Washington, Jeffrey L. Clark and his wife Rachel of Greenville, Melissa C. Johnson and her husband Wes of Lexington, SC; a brother: Willie Gray Crisp and his wife Sheila of Chocowinity; a sister: Lois Jean Murrell and husband Red of Smithfield, VA; a sister-in-law: Pauline Crisp of Chocowinity; seven grandchildren: Todd Clark, Mindy Griffin and her husband Elliott, Brittany Clark, Mackenzie Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Evan Johnson and Kaylyn Clark; five great-grandchildren: Bryce, Nathan, Landon, Julian and Ryan and six nieces and nephews. Mr. Crisp is predeceased by a stepson: John Allen Clark, Jr. and two brothers: Hoover McCoy Crisp and C.H. Crisp.
The family will receive friends 7 PM to 8:30 PM Monday, August 13, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
