All-Stars win Wilson Cup

The Washington 16U All-Stars wrapped up a fantastic summer stretch on Tuesday as they clinched the Wilson Cup with a 9-2 win over Watertown (N.J.).
The All-Stars battled in the 16U Babe Ruth World Series but did not make it to bracket play. With the loss, the 16Us entered the Wilson Cup tournament and looked stellar as they finished the campaign with an 11-3 record and Cup glory.
On Tuesday, the All-Stars went a perfect 2-0 as they topped Fern Creek (Ky) 7-1 before downing Watertown.
Kelsey Lang led the offensive as she clubbed a home run and a double to drive in two runs, while Haley Hutchins went 1-2 with two RBIs.
On the mound, Hutchins was dominant once again as she struck out 11 batters and allowed three hits in the win.
The All-Stars Catie Dority went 1-3 with an RBI, while Kaitlyn Ivey went 2-3 and Kendall Alligood doubled. Alligood was a force all summer for the All-Stars and was named to the tournament MVP.
Against Watertown, Lang was on top of her game as she hurled a four-hitter in the team’s 9-2 victory.
The All-Stars got a boat load of contributions at the plate as Alex Adams went 1-3 with a double and two RBIs, Meghan Warren went 1-4 and drove in two runs, Taylor Graham finished 1-4 with an RBI, Lang went 2-3 and plated a run, Alligood added one hit and an RBI, Dority and Kaitlyn Ivey went 1-4, while Hutchins went 2-3 and scored on a delayed steal in the second.
