Rainy weather washed away July’s Music in the Streets (MITS), but the Downtown Washington festival will be back in full force this Friday.
All but one of the acts that were scheduled to perform last month have committed to Friday’s event.
Friday’s acts include The Southerner’s Band, Kara Carlson, John Benson & Ed Tilley, Kimberly Waters, BlackWall, K-OS and JB & Jason.
The River Boat Jazz Band pulled out of the event, making room for The Mikele Buck Band, a local act. According to its Facebook page, The Mikele Buck Band plays down-home, soul-filled country music. The group will perform in front of Spa La La, said Beth Byrd, executive director of the Washington Harbor District Alliance, which organizes the festival.
Byrd said the MITS event will be a lot of fun.
“It is so cool because you get to see all your neighbors, hang out and listen to great music,” she said.
MITS will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Downtown Washington. For more information, call 946-3969.
