Sherman Arliss Williams

Mr. Sherman Arliss Williams, age 77, a resident of 450 Dallas Paul Rd., Belhaven, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Vidant Pungo Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. David Pooser. Burial will follow in Smithton Cemetery.
James Edward Paul, William Dallas Paul, Jr., Maurice Ray Paul, Douglas Gregory Paul, Danny S. Slade and Danny Woolard will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Williams was born in the Lake Landing community of Hyde County to the late Timothy and Mildred Edna Nixon Williams. On December 28, 1957, he married Evelyn Marie Paul who survives. He was a graduate of Engelhard High School and was an operating engineer in Richmond, Virginia for many years. Mr. Williams served his country in the United States Army.  He was a member of the Local Union 147, Masonic Lodge Atlantic 0294 and Sidney Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Williams of the home, two sons, Timothy Williams and wife Lisa of Virginia Beach, VA and granddaughter, Alaina Williams and Robert Williams of Belhaven and grandson, Bobby Williams and granddaughter, Morgan Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bevery Williams Selby.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sidney Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 4345 S. Savannah Rd., Belhaven, NC 27810.
