Justin Nicole Hopkins, 27, of Hopkins Seafood Road, Belhaven, was charged with felony malicious conduct by a prisoner by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office after spitting the face of a detention officer, said a statement from the sheriff’s office.
Hopkins had already been arrested by the N.C. State Highway Patrol on charges of DWI and assault on a government official.
“She refused to follow the direction of our staff during the intake process (at the jail) then spit in the face of one of our officers,” said Maj. Kenneth Watson, sheriff’s office spokesman.
Hopkins was held on $5,000 bond in addition to the bond set for her prior charges.
