Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ray Atkins of Washington are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Anne, to Matthew Stuart Carr. Mr. Carr is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Stuart Carr of Columbia, SC.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. George Spencer Gardner and the late Mr. Gardner and the late Edna Nicholls Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Lovell Atkins, all of Washington.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of Mrs. Murray Dallas Payne and the late Mr. Payne and the late Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Vasco Carr, all of Richmond, VA.
The wedding is planned for 3:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Washington. A reception will follow at the Washington Yacht and Country Club. A private ceremony and reception are planned.
