Mr. Shawn Dean Walker, age 38, a resident of Roberson Rd., Washington, NC, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at his home. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Tad Tankard. Special music will be provided by Pastor Treva Tankard and Eloise Evans. Burial will follow at the Roberson Family Cemetery, Washington, NC. Billy Jarvis, A.J. Jarvis, Kevin Alligood, Kevin Roberson, Kevin Jarvis and Jeffery Lilley will serve as pallbearers. Robert Cutler, Mitchell Lilley, Isaac Boyd, Buddy Brooks and Calvage “Tin” Cox will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy. 264 E., Washington, NC. The family will also receive friends at other times at the home of Bruce and Karen Johnson, 386 Roberson Rd., Washington, NC and at the home of his grandmother, Hallie Mae Roberson, 350 Roberson Rd., Washington, NC.
Shawn was born in Beaufort County on July 5, 1974, son of Allen Dewey Walker and Karen Roberson Johnson. He was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator. Shawn was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, trapping and fish farming.
Shawn is survived by his son, Virgil Allen Walker of the home; his mother and stepfather, Karen and Bruce Johnson of Washington; his father, Allen Dewey Walker of Washington; his brothers, Brett Walker of Cary, Charles Allen Walker of Columbia and Justin Johnson of Raleigh; his sisters, Leslie W. Roberson of New York and Kinsey Johnson of Newport Beach, Calif.; and his grandmother, Hallie Mae Roberson of Washington.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the children’s fund at Harvest Church, 2120 W. 15th St., Washington, NC 27889.
