Ruth H. Teeter

Mrs. Ruth Hatcher Teeter, age 76, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Washington, conducted by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Teeter was born in Johnston County on February 14, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Archie Herbert Hatcher and Lois Raines Hatcher. Known as a very caring person, Mrs. Teeter was a retired registered nurse. She worked over 30 years at Beaufort County Hospital (now Vidant Beaufort Hospital). Mrs. Teeter was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington. She was an excellent cook, known for her chocolate cakes and apple pies. In her spare time, Mrs. Teeter enjoyed doing needle point.
On May 24, 1954, she married Vernon C. Teeter, who preceded her in death, May 9, 2012.
Survivors include two sons, John Gregory Teeter of Beaufort, Michael Vernon Teeter of Greenville; two brothers, James Edward “Jim” Hatcher of Greenville, William Herbert Hatcher of Chester, Va.; and two grandchildren, Catherine Tate Teeter and Caroline Kimberly Teeter, both of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Teeter was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Anne Teeter; a son, David Alan Teeter; and a brother, Robert Lee Hatcher.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church.
