Bobby Ray Hodges Sr.

Mr. Bobby Ray Hodges Sr., age 69, a resident of Slatestone Road, Washington, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A celebration of his life will be held today in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Phillip Jethro. Paul McRoy, Wayne Baker, Bobby Moore, Johnny Bell, Todd Bell and Wayne Ross will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

Mr. Hodges was born in Pitt County on Aug. 26, 1943, son of Oscar Floyd and Ruth Letchworth Hodges. He attended Beaufort and Pitt County schools. Mr. Hodges was a self-employed industrial painter. He was married to the former Joyce Taylor who survives. Mr. Hodges was a member of the Redmen’s Lodge and the Moose Lodge and attended Alligood Church of God.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Bobby Ray Hodges Jr. of New Bern, Vince Allen Hodges of Washington and Karen Hodges of Goldsboro, his sisters, Peggy Ross of Washington and Joyce Antuna of Monroe, CT, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his daughter Robin Hodges, his sister Jean Mayo and his granddaughter Jessica Hodges.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
