Mr. David Henry Moore Jr., age 71, a resident of 724 Pungo Shores Drive, Belhaven, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his home.
A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church of Bath, officiated by The Reverend Eric Zubler. The family will receive friends following the service in the Noe Building of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church and other times at the home.
Mr. Moore was born in Lansdale, Pa., on Oct. 11, 1940, to the late David Henry Moore Sr. and Catherine Veronica Leonard Moore. On May 28, 1994, Mr. Moore married the former Erica Annette Smithwick, who survives. Mr. Moore was retired after a long and successful career in textile sales. Mr. Moore was currently working part time with the Beaufort County ABC Board. He was an avid golfer and had been active with the Williamston Chamber of Commerce and the “My Place” Club of North Wales, Pa. Mr. Moore was a member of the Washington Yacht & Country Club and was a dedicated member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, Erica S. Moore, of the home, Mr. Moore is survived by his children; Lisa Battis and husband George of Hatboro, Pa., Sharon Moore and husband Ronnie Wahl of Churchville, Pa., Kristina Tyson and husband Tim of Winterville, David Moore and wife Amanda of Statesville, and Brian Holliday and partner Aaron Blackmon of Raleigh; a sister, Anita Moore Russo and husband Frank of Lansdale, Pa.; grandchildren, Valerie Walter and Matthew Thompson, both of Chalfant, Pa., Kathryn Hill of Winterville, Laura Thompson of Churchville, Pa., Ryan Tyson of Greenville, Rebecca Tyson of Winterville, Jack Tyson of Winterville, and Kathleen Moore of Statesville; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Parker of Winterville, and the mother of his children; Joanne Moore of Bell Arthur.
