Mr. Selander Andre´ Simpson, 38, of 323 Boush St., Roper, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Washington County Hospital.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Eprew Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James W. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Simpson family cemetery.
Mr. Simpson was born on April 17, 1974, in Chowan County. He was the son of Ramos and Lula Mae Holley Simpson. He was a member of Mt. Eprew Missionary Baptist Church serving as Sunday school secretary, an usher, youth choir member and kitchen helper; past master of Rising Moon Lodge #59, Roper; member of Albemarle Hunting Club and former member of Hawks softball team. He was employed as a forklift operator with Domtar.
Survivors include his wife: Ida Marie Swain Simpson, of the home; son: Aaron Deandre’ Simpson, Chesapeake, Va.; four daughters: Aaliyah Swain, Na’Diamond Swain, Jamyra Simpson, Shalanda Simpson, of the home; parents: Ramos and Lula Mae Simpson, Roper; two brothers: David Purnell Simpson, Richmond, Va., Timothy LeVan Simpson, Roper; and one sister: Crystal Deon Simpson, Charlotte, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Mt. Eprew Missionary Baptist Church and others time at the home of his parents, Ramos and Lula Mae Simpson, 406 Clemmons St., Roper.
