Gene Omista Smith, 61, of 968 Respass St., Washington, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at University of North Carolina Hospital, Chapel Hill. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Cornerstone Family Worship Center, 1918 W. Fifth St., Washington, with Pastor Nancy Sadler officiating. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens, 4251 E. 10th St., Greenville. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, 118 Randolph St., Washington. Arrangements are by Bonner Street Funeral Home, Washington.
