Helen R. Scrase

Mrs. Helen Faye Rowe Scrase, age 71, a resident of 530 East St., Belhaven, died Friday, October 26, 2012, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Cris Noble.
Mrs. Scrase was born in Johnson County on August 30, 1941, to the late Gilbert and Eunice Baker Rowe. She was a graduate of Princeton High School and attended Campbell University. On June 10, 1962, she married Bruce Alfred Ross Scrase who survives. She was employed with First and Merchants Bank, Signet Bank and Capitol One all in Richmond, Virginia, where she retired from in 2001. She loved working outside gardening in the yard. Helen was a great supportive wife and workmate for 50 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir.
Survivors include her husband, Bud Scrase of the home; one son, Matthew Charles Scrase of Belhaven; two grandchildren, Yuri and Misha Scrase-Chandler of Montpelier, Virginia; one brother, Leon Rowe of Yorktown, Virginia, and two sisters, Kathleen Bedford of Yorktown, Virginia and Ann Martin of Princeton, NC. She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Ross Scrase on May 18, 2005, one brother, Bill Rowe and one sister, Frances Allen.
