James R. Parker

Mr. James Ray “Jim” Parker, age 67, a resident of 118 Pinetree Drive, Washington, NC, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at his home.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Second Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Scott Setzer.
Mr. Parker was born in Wilson County on September 9, 1945 to the late Jimmie Reed Parker, Jr. and Marjorie Barnes Parker. He was a graduate of Tarboro High School and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Parker served his country in the United States Air Force. On February 19, 1971, Mr. Parker married the former Julia Wood, who survives. He worked as an MIS administrative manager with Hardee’s Food Systems, Inc. at their corporate office in Rocky Mount, NC before relocating to Washington, where he opened PF-One Computers. Mr. Parker was an amateur ham radio operator and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Washington where he had served as Vice President of his Sunday school class.
In addition to his wife Julia of the home, Mr. Parker is survived by three brothers; Walter Parker, Jimmie Reed Parker, III and Darrell Parker all of Tarboro, NC
The family will receive friends at the home.
The family requests no flowers, but asks that memorials be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2516 West Fifth Street, Washington, NC 27889.
