Margaret Woolard Alligood

Ms. Margaret Woolard Alligood, age 88, a resident of Terrapin Track Rd., Washington, NC, died Monday, November 19, 2012, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville. A graveside celebration of her life will be held today at 2:00 PM at the Alligood Family Cemetery officiated by Pastor Phillip Jethro. Randy Alligood, Ritchie Alligood, Rusty Elks, Donald Woolard, Frayle Woolard and Jeff Woolard will serve as pallbearers. Her body will lie in state on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC. The family will receive friends at any time at her home.
Ms. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on October 29, 1924 daughter of the late Jarvis and Florence Alligood Woolard. She was a homemaker. She was married on September 23, 1943 to Orvie “Poodle” Alligood who died October 29, 2002. Ms. Alligood lived her entire life in Beaufort County where she was a member of Alligood Church of God. She was a devoted Christian. Her family was her life as she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She enjoyed flowers and working in her yard.
Ms. Alligood is survived by her daughters, Lois Sauls and Patsy Wallace and her husband, Johnnie Mack; her grandchildren, Ronnie Sauls and wife Shelia, Todd Sauls and wife Sherri, Kris Sauls and wife Dana and Mack Wallace and wife Holly and her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sauls, Chase and Aaron Sauls and Lilly and Emely Wallace.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brothers, Linwood R. Woolard, R.V. Woolard and Oscar Woolard and her sister, Eleanor Woolard.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in her name to the Alligood Church of God Cancer Fund, 1891 Mill Hole Rd., Washington, NC 27889.
