Walter Cox Cutrell

Walter Cox Cutrell, 96, of Williamston, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Martin General Hospital. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church with Rev Karen Kelly and Rev Jim Bussell officiating; burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr Cutrell was born in Hyde County on January 17, 1916. He was the son of the late Herbert D. and Mattie Bell Cox Cutrell. A veteran of World War II he served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Infantry. In 1946 he married Doris Harris Cutrell and in 1951 they moved to Williamston with Wells Oaks Lumber Company. Mr Cutrell worked in maintenance all his life and retired from the Maintenance Department with the Town of Williamston in 1965 with 11 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John B. Cutrell and Curtis B. Cutrell and sisters Gladys C. Raulerson and Lula Mae Cox.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter Lynn Cutrell Peele of Williamston, sisters Ann C. Latham and Archie C. Daniels, both of Belhaven, and Iva C. Eldridge of New Bern and a brother William D. Cutrell of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12:45 PM until 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church and other times at the residence, 108 Ridgewood Drive.
