Lena C. Calcutt

Mrs. Lena Chesson Calcutt, age 99, a former resident of Old Race Track Road, Washington, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Ridgewood Manor in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Old Ford Church of Christ, Hwy 17 North, Washington, conducted by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
The following will serve as active pallbearers: Barry Chesson, Henton Chesson, C.J. Gurganus, Stanley Gurganus, Swanson Ferguson and Lee Ferguson.
Linwood Jefferson, Harry Ferguson, Jr., Terry Black, Steve Gurganus, Stan Gurganus, Lynn Jefferson, Eddie Cherry and Freddie Cherry will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Calcutt was born in Beaufort County on December 20, 1912. She was the daughter of the late James Edward Chesson and Annie Vineyard Lilley Chesson. Mrs. Calcutt worked at National Spinning for many years. Later, she took care of children in her home. Mrs. Calcutt was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ, Circle #3, the Golden Age Sunday School Class, and the Woodmen of the World.
Mrs. Calcutt was married to Elbert L. Calcutt, Sr. who preceded her in death, April 27, 1968.
Survivors include her son, Elbert Lee Calcutt, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Ocala, Fla,; three grandchildren, Tangie Davis and her husband, Paul of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Kimberly Ballard and her husband, Justin of St. Peter, Missouri, Beau Jason Calcutt of Ocala, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Samantha Davis, Dacota Davis, Alexis Ballard; one sister, Annie C. Williams of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Calcutt was preceded in death by one sister, Fannie Chesson Gurganus; four brothers, Earl E. Chesson, Norwood Chesson, Fernando Chesson and Andrew Chesson and seven half-brothers and half-sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home, 50 Old Race Track Road, Washington.
