Keeter Baggett Pope died on January 17, 2013, at home in Chocowinity, NC. Keeter was born in Cumberland County to Robert and Catherine Baggett of Lillington, NC. She graduated from Lillington High School and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Keeter lived a life of service. She dedicated herself to her family and friends, church and her patients. She created a loving home and took great pride in raising her three children. She also served in many nursing roles and found her time as a Hospice nurse to be most rewarding. Her dedication to the Lord and her Church family is reflected in her personal Bible study, her role as Deaconess and the many lives that she touched. Keeter was a talented seamstress and knitter often creating holiday dresses for her granddaughters. Keeter was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband of 51 years remained the love of her life.
Keeter is survived by her husband Howard, three children and spouses and six beloved grandchildren. Mark Edison Pope and wife Jennifer, their children Prentice Ann and Caleb Edison; Gregory Scott Pope and wife Chelle, their daughter Baley Michelle; and Michelle Keeter Chaffin and husband Mark, and their children, Ellie Keeter, Emma Catherine, and Eva Michelle. She is also survived by many other friends and relatives. She will be dearly missed by all.
A celebration of Keeter’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, Washington, NC, on Sunday, January 20, at 3 P.M. Everyone is invited to a reception at the Bay Club, Cypress Landing, Chocowinity, NC, immediately following the Service.
