The Beaufort County Police Activities League and Pamlico Pals treated 10 middle-school students to dinner and a basketball game Jan. 12.
The students saw East Carolina University play Central Florida University, with ECU winning in overtime. The trip represented the first time many of the students had ever been to ECU or seen the ECU men’s basketball team play, according to a PAL news release.
The PAL mission is to improve the relationship between the youth, the community and law enforcement by offering various activities like field trips to expose the students to positive activities. Pamlico Pals mission is to provide mentoring programs to Beaufort County students and introduce the students to positive role models.
Another PAL/Pamlico Pals trip to ECU is planned for Feb. 17 to see the ECU women’s team play the University of Mississippi’s women’s team.
