Mrs. Virginia Sullivan Smith Pollard, age 91, a resident of Cypress Landing, Chocowinity, died Friday, March 29, 2013.

A private funeral Mass will be held in North Carolina at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Pollard was born in Glens Fall, N.Y. on September 3, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Florence and Leota LaPointe Sullivan.  Mrs. Pollard was a retired secretary for General Electric. Prior to coming to Chocowinity, Mrs. Pollard had lived in Queensbury, N.Y.  She was a member of the Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.

Mrs. Pollard is survived by a daughter, Carol Firth and husband, Peter of Chocowinity, N.C.; a son Dennis B. Smith and wife, Diane of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Andrew Firth of Argyle, N.Y., Marysusan F. Mardigian and husband, John of Albany, N.Y., Patrick Firth and wife, Leslie of Cicero, N.Y., James Firth and wife, Jennifer of Hamburge, N.Y., William Firth and wife, Dianna of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Jimmy J. Smith of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and six great grandchildren, Joel Firth, Nolan Firth, Shea Firth, Logan Firth, Elliott Firth and Charles Firth.
