Beaufort County Community College opened a lot of eyes Tuesday.

The school held an open house that focused on its advanced manufacturing program.

People, mostly Beaufort County students, learned about the school’s drafting design class. They got to see some of the designs come to life in the machining and welding classrooms and view some of the work that had been completed.

Best of all, those who attended the manufacturing tour got to know the instructors. Their dedication to what they do was evident in the work samples they showed, the explanations they gave and the success stories they cited.

The manufacturing industry has advanced by leaps and bounds in the past few decades, and Beaufort County is lucky to have a program like this open to college students and high school students.

This was the first open house organized by the North Carolina Advanced Manufacturing Alliance. Hopefully, it won’t be the last.
